| HANKS STATION
Dear Pupils, Hanks Station was located on Mountain Dell Creek in Salt Lake County in the deep vale between Big and Little Mountains. The station was known for its operator Ephraim K. Hanks a man with a mean reputation. From Hanks Station the trail climbed over Little Mountain Pass and dropped steeply into Big Canyon later renamed Emigration Canyon, and followed to the place where only a few years earlier Brigham Young had said, 'It is enough, this is the place!' From there it was only a few miles to Salt Lake City. |
