| MEADOW CREEK
Dear Students, Meadow Creek, the next stop west, was also known as Faust's Station for its operator, Dr. Henry J. Faust. Dr. Faust was very different from most station keepers. He was well a mannered, educated man who enjoyed discussing Shakespeare with his guests, and was a physician as well. A small creek added to the comfort of Meadow Creek. Dr. Faust first came to Meadow Creek as an express rider and stayed to become its owner. In later years after the Overland Stage became just a memory, he stayed at the station and became a rancher. Some of the original log cabins still stand along Meadow Creek as does a small cemetery where gunfighters are buried. |
