Ghost Riders and Rest Stops Packet B

FISH SPRINGS STATION

Dear Students,

Fish Springs Station in Juab County was a main stop in the West Desert route, and one looked forward to by us pony express riders, stage drivers and passengers. After Blackrock, the trail passed by many deep pools of water that were stagnant, and foul smelling. But at Fish Springs there were great pools of clean water. Some were boiling hot while others were ice cold and had fish swimming in them. Many of the pools near the station were just the right temperature for swimming and washing off dust and grime from traveling. Water barrels were filled from the pools because it was a dry journey to the next stop.
