Students will read about Jackie Robinson
and then from Internet searching students will create a profile about his life or the Negro Baseball League, using Corel Presentations program or Microsfot Powerpoint.

Background for Teachers

A knowledge of using the internet is helpful as well as knowing the process of Corel Presentations, Powerpoint, or some other slide show application.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will have the opportunity to do research on an assigned topic. They will have the experience of putting together a slide show presentation.


Instructional Procedures

Some type of presentation that you have created. Prior to having students read 'The Noble Experiment' from I Never had it Made, by Jackie Robinson, launch a discussion about prejudice and the problems that come from prejudging others. Then have students read the story. Reserve the computer lab for at least three days. Show a sample presentation of any type that you have created. In the curiculum lab have the students do Internet research about either Jackie Robinson or The Negro Basebll League. While searching the internet the students should begin to copy graphics and text to insert into thier presentations. In either Corel Presentations or Microsoft Powerpoint have the students create a slide show about Jackie Robinson or the Negro Baseball League. After the students have completed their projects. show them to the class using a video display unit.
