The Earth rotates on its axis one complete turn in a 24‐ hour period (1 day). This causes
the earth to have night and day. As the earth is spinning, it also rotates around the sun. It
takes the Earth 365 days, or 1 year, to complete one revolution around the sun.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
Read and share the book, Earth: Our Planet in Space by Seymour Simon, and have students make predictions along the way.
The Earth orbits the sun and the moon orbits the Earth.
