Summary

Students will research a specific battle during WWII. They will tell who was fighting. They will find out where the battle took place. They will find out when the battle took place.

  • List of the battles to choose from
  • Books specific to WWII battles
  • Web sites specific to WWII battle
  • Computer


Background for Teachers

  • Familiarize yourself with lucidchart.com so you will be able to instruct your students on the use of the program.
  • Choose six specific battles and familiarize yourself with the battles.


Student Prior Knowledge

  • Familiar with using a computer is helpful but not necessary.


Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Students will become knowledgeable about what it took for the United States to be a part of WWII.


Instructional Procedures

  • Teachers will begin by teaching the students about why the United State were a part of WWII
  • Teachers will explain that there were specific battles that took place during WWII
  • Students will be in small groups and choose which battle they want to study
  • Students will create a lucidchart that will answer Who, When and Where


Extensions

  • Students will locate a primary source from WWII and include that in their lucidchart, for example; a letter from a soldier


Assessment Plan

The student groups will show their completed chart using lucidchart to the class and print the completed chart.
