Summary

The students will choose one box from each category and write a RAFT about the event.

Instructional Procedures

  1. Hold up a mushroom and ask a student to hold up an orange. These two objects can be any living organisms as long as they are not the same ones. Ask the student that is holding the orange why these two are not classified together. Ask them to say it in a complaining way. Then you the teacher say the same thing but in an complementary style. This is what the students get to do today.
  2. Hand out the student sheet. Use an overhead to explain if the students need help.
  3. Give the students 20 minutes to write.
  4. In groups of four have the students read theirs out loud and as a group choose the best one. This can then be read to the class.
