Summary

Students will conduct a lab making a slime-like material in order to answer the question "How does cross-linking change the properties of a polymer?"


Materials

Attachments

  • student lab sheet (attached)
  • goggles
  • 2 wooden splints
  • Apron
  • Polyvinyl alcohol (4% solution)
  • graduated cylinder
  • Sodium tetraborate (4% solution) (Borax)
  • 2 paper cups
  • diluted white glue containing polyvinyl acetate
  • food coloring
