Definition of Media and Media Literacy


Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to define what media is and give examples.


Instructional Procedures

Kindergarten:

  1. Introduce students to the term "media" and given the definition. "Media is any means by which messages are communicated."
  2. Show examples of where messages come from (e.g. books, pictures. TV, computer)
  3. Brainstorm other places where media messages are found. (e.g. Clothing, billboards, bumper stickers, flyers from your teacher, commercials) Teacher will record students' responses on the white board.


Assessment Plan

Random students will be able to give the definition of media and one example.
