Lesson on different philosophies and the programs established for each.

Classify the types of childcare programs by category.

Materials:
Power point projector or notes from lesson plan, worksheet for each student. Good videos on this subject offered by Davidson Films (916-753-9604) or http://davidsonfilms.com/

It would be helpful to read the text on Program models.

Student Prior Knowledge:
Helpful to have worked in child care or visited a number of different kinds of daycares.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
Students will understand the differences of the three different philosophies and the types of child care establishments that reflect these philosophies.

Instructional Procedures:
Power point presentation to be accompanied with Program Model work paper. Follow up with visits to a preschool of each of the different models. Evaluate each.
