This lesson provides students with an introduction to the concept of traffic and circulation patterns used throughout the home.
Please be familiar with the information listed on the attached note outline.
Students should be able to read a floor plan.
Students should be able to identify the different zones/areas of a home as well as the different types of circulation.
Have students take out their notes for this unit. Have them take notes from the outline on the overhead projector as you discuss each topic as a class. Once the notes are complete, hand out a copy of the text worksheet 2-1 & 2-2 to each student. Have students turn to unit two in the textbook. Students should complete the worksheets according to the instructions on each page. Turn the rest of the class period over to the students to complete the worksheet.
Struggling students can be given copies of the note outlines to highlight as you go through them as a class.
Refer to the answer key that came with the workbook for the answers to the activity. 10 points can be earned for each correctly colored area and for each correctly labeled circulation type. 70 points total.
