Fashion Capitols

Time Frame:
1 class period that runs 45 minutes.

Summary:
Students will do research on the five fashion capitols.

Fashion Design Studio
Strand 1 Standard 4

Identify and discuss characteristics of fashion capitals and designers.

See the fashion capitols information sheets.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
Students will complete the fashion capitols worksheet by reading the information sheets.

Instructional Procedures:
1. There are five fashion capitols around the world. Ask the students to guess what they are and see how many they already know.
2. Once they have guessed, pass out the fashion capitols maps, on the backs of which is copied the fashion capitols worksheet.
3. Have them mark each capitol on their maps as they are shown on the overhead. Talk a little about each capitol and ask the students why they think these cities are considered fashion capitols (15 min.).
4. Divide the class into 5 groups. Each group will have each information sheet for about 5 minutes. Then the information sheet is passed to another group. The worksheets should be filled according to the information (30 min.).
