Fashion Terms

Time Frame:
3 class periods that run 45 minutes each.

Group Size:


Students will find pictures that portray fashion terms and then create portfolios.

Main Curriculum Tie:
Fashion Design Studio
Strand 1 Standard 2

Define terminology.



Intended Learning Outcomes:
After a review, students will create porfolios of basic fashion terms.

Instructional Procedures:
Day One

1. Display the fashion terms on the overhead; quickly define and talk about each one. The students already will know some of the fashion terms. (5-10 min.)
2. Pass out the bingo cards. The students will fill in their cards with the terms and then play bingo by reading off the definitions. (20 min.)
3. For the next two days,the assignment will be to use class time to find pictures that represent the basic fashion terms. The pictures must be matted and have paragraphs explaining how the picture relates to the fashion term. Students will also write the fashion term on each page. Overall it should appear neat. The pictures will go into their portfolios after being graded.

Day two: work on the portfolio.

Day three: work on the portfolio and turn in the assignment.
