GIS: Mapping the Lewis & Clark Expedition, 1804-1806

Summary

This is a lesson, documents, and data package that illustrates how GIS can be used to teach history. Using the incredible expedition of explorers Lewis and Clark, this package provides GIS data that is easily investigated with the ArcVoyager U.S. Reference Map project.

Instructional Procedures

This exercise allows you to take a birds-eye view of the entire expedition route and a number of key sites along the way. Using an existing ArcVoyager project, you will map layers of new data related to the expedition, ask and answer geographic questions, and investigate the expedition route's relationship to terrain and other factors.
