Instructional Procedures

Using the PowerPoint presentation introduce student to the inch. Stress that the line only work with their partners, the other lines that represent equal portions of the inch, i.e. 1/4 and 3/4, or 1/8, 3/8, 5/8, and 7/8. After completing the slide show, review just the quarters and have them complete Measuring 1. Then Review eights and have them do Measuring 2, Review the sixteenths and have them do Measuring 3. Measuring 4 can be used as a test of the inch. Introduce the metric system and the millimeter. Have them complete both the Measuring Metric worksheet and Measuring mm.
