Hawthorne Elementary School The Hawthorne Elementary School KOPE (Kids Organized to Protect Our Environment) organization's goal is "to help keep our school and our city clean...to save trees and other resources by recycling...to interest and educate others about recycling..." J. Willard Marriott Library The UTAH POSTCARD collection contributed by the J. Willard Marriott Library includes over 190 postcards illustrating Utah's main streets, buildings, and unique sites. Subjects range from early rodeo events in Cedar City to the changing face of the Salt Palace. KUED Media Solutions KUED Media Solutions' GEOGRAPHY OF UTAH series gives users access to hundreds of photographs and video clips with accompanying transcripts. The twenty-two part series encompasses the political, cultural, historical and sociological geography of the state of Utah. It describes the activities, the land and the people. Much of the video material was videotaped on location throughout the state of Utah, giving the student and interested viewer valuable field trip experiences. KUED-TV, Channel 7 KUED-TV Channel 7 has contributed historic photographs from its award-winning series UTAH THE STRUGGLE FOR STATEHOOD which describes Utah's unique, fifty-year path to statehood. KUER-FM90 Audio clips from KUER FM 90's FRIDAY EDITION stories entertain and inform you. Utahns relate their memories of the floods of 1983, the Scofield Mine Disaster, and Swedetown. Also included are accounts of African Americans in early Utah, the ways early settlers changed the landscape, and life in small towns. Red Butte Garden and Arboretum Red Butte Garden and Arboretum has contributed slides of UTAH NATIVE PLANTS found in foothill regions. The photographs show the changing appearance of various plants throughout the seasons. University of Utah Press The University of Utah Press has contributed one of the core collections, the UTAH HISTORY ENCYCLOPEDIA in which over 200 contributors write about the individuals, organizations, locations, institutions, and topics important to Utah history. Utah Museum of Fine Arts The Utah Museum of Fine Arts contributed photographs of its VAL A. BROWNING MEMORIAL COLLECTION, 39 paintings given to the Museum and the citizens of Utah by Mr. Browning, Utah industrialist and philanthropist. In addition to photographs and descriptions of each piece, the collection includes lesson plans created to accompany several of the paintings. Utah State Historical Society The Utah State Historical Society has contributed the photographs used in the UTAH HISTORY ENCYCLOPEDIA, and has generously given Utah Collections rights to include the historic photographs used in the video productions, UTAH: THE STRUGGLE FOR STATEHOOD series, the GEOGRAPHY OF UTAH series, and A PEOPLES' HISTORY OF UTAH series. | |||||||||||||||
