Strand 2

Students will be introduced to elements of design, housing, interior design and apparel and how it impacts families, communities and careers.

Standard 1


  • Color - Interior Design
    Colors have personal meanings and affect how we feel.
  • Color Schemes - Interior Design
    Color is made from different lengths of light waves, i.e. a rainbow. A color wheel shows how colors are related to each other. Color schemes are combinations of colors in the color wheel that work well together.
  • Color and Color Schemes Unit
    Students will be introduced to color and color schemes. They will also learn how color can effect shape, size, feelings and moods.
  • Elements of Design
    This lesson is an introduction to interior design and how the elements of design are used to create beautiful and comfortrable rooms.
  • Shoe Box Room Design: Final Project
    Students will use the elements and principles of design learned in this unit to design a room inside of a shoe box.
