CTE/Education & Training Curriculum Child Development
Lesson Plans

Strand 6

Students will practice age-appropriate positive guidance techniques and strategies for coping with challenging situations. (Standards may be integrated into each developmental age under Strands 4 and 5.)

Standard 2

Evaluate challenging situations and the skills needed to cope
  • Abuse and Neglect
The use of a guest speaker as well as other simple activities will teach the students how to identify and report child abuse.
  • Child Abuse
It is important to tell someone that abuse has occurred. If the first person does not listen or care about what you have said, keep trying until you find someone who does. Telling about your experience is the only way to stop abuse. It is important for people of all ages to realize where their coping threshold is. It is important to have positive alternatives for dealing with stressful situations.
  • Stress
Stress is a basic part of life. The way in which we deal with stress will make our lives pleasant and comfortable or leave us stressed and incapable of performing our obligations to the best of our abilities.
