Strand 4

Students will identify the aspects and importance of marriage preparation and examine behaviors that strengthen marital and family relationships.

Standard 2

Identify the purposes of the engagement period.
  • Engagement
    Students will be able to identify the purposes of an engagement, marital goals and objectives, the signals of potential marital problems, and the purposes of the honeymoon.
  • M&F Chapter 10 - Family Life Cycle
    This is an indepth study of all stages of the family life cycle including the engagement, wedding, marital adjustments, middle and late marriage, aging and death.
  • Mate Selection and Engagement
    Students will learn about how to choose a mate and what they want in a future mate. They will learn the purpose of engagement and how to plan a wedding.
  • Purposes of Engagement & Signs of Potential Problems
    During classroom discussion, powerpoint presentation and activities the students will identify the purposes of the engagement period. They will also, analyze the signals of potential problems during the engagement period.
