Standard 2

Create DAP learning experiences for preschoolers.
  • Art & Creativity
    Lesson on how to teach art, stages of art, how to develop creativity, ideas on art activities for children
  • Assessing Children's Learning and Development
    Through a power point presentation, students will learn how to correctly "assess children's learning and development" so that their preschool can be developmentally appropriate. They will then participate in creating file folder games to use with their preschoolers in the future. These games will help the children in the preschool class enjoy learning as the teacher assesses their new skills. The file folder games exemplify an appropriate way to assess children's learning and development.

  • Constructing Appropriate Curriculum
    Through a power point presentation, students will learn what it means to "Construct Appropriate Curriculum" so that their preschool can be developmentally appropriate. They will then participate in some music activities as well as playing "sound bingo". These music and movement activities will help the children in the preschool class feel comfortable as well as teach them needed motor and listening skills. The music and movement activities exemplify "Constructing Appropriate Curriculum".
  • Creating a Caring Community of Learners
    Through a powerpoint presentation, students will learn the importance of creating a caring community of learners so that their preschool can be developmentally appropriate. They will then make music visual aids and instruments as well as create a new song. These items will help them to have such a community in their future preschool classrooms.
  • LITERACY: Dr. Seuss
    Reading is a vital part of a child's life. Authors such as Dr. Seuss have made a lasting impact on children's books.
  • Math & Science
    Concepts to teach young children about math and science. The process to accomplishing that. Activities to demonstrate what can be done with children.
  • Music
    Music is an important part of working with young children. Music can be used in several ways in child care situations.
  • Music & Movement
    Lesson on teaching creative movement and songs to children. Includes creative movement activity with evaluation of multiple intelligence usage. Activity for demonstration of ability to teach a song.
  • Pre-Math
    Review the importance of pre-math activities for preschool-age children.
  • Science
    Science activities can be educational and fun. Students will identify a variety of science supplies and activities.
  • Teaching to Enhance Development and Learning
    Through a powerpoint presentation, students will learn what it means to teach to enhance development and learning so that their preschool can be developmentally appropriate. They will then participate in several transitions (done by the teacher) and then come up with their own idea to share with the class. Transitions will help the children in the preschool class move easily from activity to activity, enhancing their learning and development.
