Strand 3

Students will examine the use of textiles in fashion and associated careers.

Standard 1

Identify the basic fibers and characteristics of manufactured and natural textiles. Recognize that fiber content establishes many of the characteristics of a specific fabric.
  • Fabric Reference Guide
    Students will create a fabric reference guide of several different types of fabrics.
  • Natural Fibers/Textiles
  • Teacher Helps: Scope & Seq., Portfolio Outline, Reviews
    This Plan includes helpful documents for Fashion Strategies teachers. Sample Scope and Sequence, Disclosure Document, Supply List, Scans of portfolio pages with guidelines, Test Review Sheets and Test Review Jeapordy powerpoint games are all included. A powerpoint to explain the New York Field Study is also included.
  • Textile Fibers
    Students will understand the various properties of natural and synthetic fibers by completing a burn test, participating in a powerpoint, video discussion and completing portfolio pages.
  • Textile Lab
    Students will learn the various properties and uses of textiles through a lab experience
