  • Cinderella, Cinderella
    This lesson will help students review the story elements of fairy tales, using the original version of Cinderella. In subsequent lessons they will be using this information to compare and contrast different multicultural versions of Cinderella.
  • Connecting to Utah's Diversity
    Students will learn about their own heritage by filling in an outline and then creating a poster.

    Enduring Understanding:
    • Students will understand that each person's background is diverse and contributes to Utah's culture both past and present.
    • We enjoy a much richer culture because of the diversity of our heritage.
    Enduring Question:
    • How does our diverse heritage and culture help shape Utah's culture.
  • Dino Detectives
    Students will learn about prehistoric life in Utah.
  • Ghost Town Awakening
    Students find and research a ghost town of Utah, and select the necessary things that it would need in order for it to function and grow.
  • Governments of Utah Past and Present
    Students will use the internet, text books, and other resources to identify historic American Indian, State of Deseret, Utah Territory, and current Utah state governments and compare and contrast.
  • Making Good Impressions
    Students will learn about impression fossils.
  • Round and Round
    Students create their own water cycle story and storyboard and teach what they've learned to a younger audience.

  • Shape Poems: Writing Extraordinary Poems About Ordinary Objects
    Students will recognize the characteristics and format of a shape poem; compile a list of content area terms and sensory images (collaboratively as a class and also independently) that relate to a shape or object, as part of the process of brainstorming a word bank for their shape poem; apply spelling knowledge and strategies when brainstorming words for the word bank and writing and revising their shape poem.
  • Writing Poetry Like Pros
    This set of 4 lesson plans from EDSITEment utilizes poetry to serve as the inspiration for some terrific writing. Using poems available through EDSITEment resources, educators can make poetry an exciting teaching and learning tool in the classroom.
