  • Animal Adaptations—Snowshoe Hare/Cottontail Rabbit

    The students will be able to compare the traits of species for physical abilities, instinctual behaviors, and specialized body structures that increase the survival of animals in a specific environment.

    1. Analyze how structural and behavioral adaptations help organisms survive.
    2. Define structural and behavioral adaptations.
    3. Observe and identify specific adaptations of animals.
    4. Give examples of structural and behavioral adaptations.
    5. Recognize the distinct characteristics of two or more similar animals.
    6. Describe physical adaptations exhibited by two animals and compare their differences.
  • Clustering
    Students will organize electricity-related vocabulary words into a web or cluster design.
  • Eye Spy a Pattern
    Students will learn how to see patterns by understanding how things work together.
  • Eye Spy a Rule
    Students will learn to analyze a pattern and identify the rules for the pattern. They will also learn how to represent those rules.
  • Landforms in a Tub
    Students will use common household items to build landforms and simulate weathering and erosion.
  • Rice and More Rice
    These activities help students develop number sense, discover what happens to the product when factors are doubled, and understand the properties of multiplying by factors of 10/100/1000.

  • Engaging Students in a Collaborative Exploration of the Gettysburg Address
    This lesson plan invites groups of students to learn more about the historical significance of President Abraham Lincoln's famous speech as well as the time period and people involved. Students will work together, participating in inquiry projects based on the speech, using the words and phrases of the speech itself.
