  • Coin Conversions
    This activity uses money as a way to introduce the relationship between fractions, decimals and percents.
  • Equal Shares
    This activity will aid in the understanding of breaking a single object into equal shares using candy and other exciting models. Students will learn about fractions and how they can make all different kinds fractions with even more fractions.
  • Flexible Fractions
    Students will learn about fractions.
  • How Low Can You Go?
    This activity teaches students about fractions and finding the lowest common denominator when dividing.
  • Math 5 - Act. 05: Mixed Number/Improper Fraction Bingo
    This activity has students playing a bingo game to better understand Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions.
  • Math 5 - Act. 06: Fruity O Fractions
    Fruity O cereal is used in this activity to help students understand fractions better.
  • Math 5 - Act. 07: Comparing Fractions War Card Game
    This activity gives students practice comparing fractions.
  • Parts of a Dozen
    In this activity, students will use the whole of an egg carton to manipulate the denominator by sectioning off the egg carton. Students will use the vocabulary of numerator and denominator as they explore the different ways that a dozen-egg carton can be divided up into parts.
  • Specialty Cakes
    Students use geometric shapes to construct cakes and then use costs of the pieces to find the cost of the various cakes.
  • Sports Math
    Students will use sports to learn about fractions, decimals and percents.
  • Tangram Toil
    Students will build on their foundation of understanding dividing with equal shares in this activity by using more concrete models.
  • There's Nothing Improper About Them
    Students will learn about fractions and mixed numbers by manipulating shapes.

  • Fraction Track
    Mathematical games can foster mathematical communication as students explain and justify their moves to one another. In addition, games can motivate students and engage them in thinking about and applying concepts and skills. This e-examples contains an interactive version of a game that can be used in the grades 3-5 classroom to support students' learning about fractions.
