Standard 3 Students will use spatial and logical reasoning to recognize, describe, and analyze geometric shapes and principles.
Objective 2 Visualize and identify geometric shapes after applying transformations on a coordinate plane.

USOE-Approved Lesson Plans
Coordinate Connections Students will complete several activities that involve coordinates and graph paper. Function-al Machines & Spaghetti Graphs Students will learn to identify the relationship between patterns and functions. Growing Patterns Students will graph growing patterns using ordered pairs on a coordinate grid. Math 6 - Act. 13: Constructing Tangrams This activity provides a connection between geometry and algebra by looking at geometric concepts in a coordinate plane. In addition, it draws upon an ancient Chinese legend and culture to add interest to the context of the lesson. Tracking Sunrise and Sunset Students will collect, record, and graph the sunrise and sunset times. Transforming Triangles Students will graph translations (slides) and reflections (flips) on a coordinate plane. Why Angle Changes Intensity This hands-on activity will help students understand why summer is hotter than winter.
