  • Cultural Symbols and the Characteristics of Place
Monuments, fortresses, and other public structures form part of the cultural landscapes of local, state, national, and world regions. They offer a wealth of opportunities for analyzing and explaining the distribution of peoples and their values, activities, and available resources. This lesson explores how the cultures of ancient and modern people are reflected in their cultural symbols.
  • What Does a Picture tell You About Culture
What is a cultural landscape? Many of us have seen photographs in National Geographic magazine but have never really asked ourselves "What do these photographs reveal about the local culture?" This lesson examines pictures to create an understanding of cultural understandings.
