  • Dewey Decimal Game
    This lesson is designed to help students understand the Dewey Decimal system. It is formatted as a competition between classes and can be carried out over a 5-6 week period as classes visit the library once a week.
  • Dewey Decimal Game 2
    This multiple-class lesson plan will thoroughly familiarize elementary students with the Dewey Decimal system and the subjects found in each number range.
  • Shelving or Finding Books
    This activity will help students learn how to shelve or find books in the library.

  • STAR Search: How Do I Find the Book I Need?
    This lesson from ReadWriteThink introduces the STAR Search Process, which provides a set of steps and thinking processes for intermediate students to use in finding a library resource relevant to a specific information need. Modeling and presenting the process will assist students in becoming confident, independent library users.
