  • Catch the Spelling
Use your keyboard's arrow keys to catch the letter in the correct order to spell the word at the top of the screen. (Second Grade Dolch Words)
  • Crossword Spelling
This is a Houghton Mifflin site. The words correspond with the units, however, you wouldn't have to follow the Houghton Mifflin program exactly because it is simple enough for students to do. Teacher may want to read the clues.
  • Harcourt School 2nd Grade Spelling Activities
This site contains a variety of spelling activities for each unit of the Harcourt Brace Spelling program. Teachers can look at the words in these units to discover any common patterns or similarities with school’s spelling program. (Each unit has a spelling check where students select the correctly spelled word from a list of words and a Word Builder where students unscramble the letters to make a word that was orally given to students.)
  • Lookout Below
Given three choices of smaller words, student must choose which word can be made from the larger word.
  • Spellbound
Try to spell the word. The game shows the student the word briefly and then scrambles the letters. The student must then spell the word. Lots of high frequency words.
  • Spelling Word Search
This site goes along with the Houghton Mifflin series. These are interactive wordsearches.
  • Spin and Spell
Sutdents click on letters in a spinner to spell various words. Student can choose catergory of words.
  • Word Builder
Student is given a sentence with a missing word and must choose the right letters to build that word. Everything is read to the student, including the instructions, so student can play this game by himself.
  • Word Families
Students choose what word family they would like to work with and then matches the picture to the word to make the tree bloom. Site provides three levels for the game.
