(Reading): Students will use vocabulary development and an understanding of text elements and structures to comprehend literary and informational grade level text.
Objective 2
(Comprehension of Informational Text): Comprehend and evaluate informational text (i.e., web pages, newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, maps, schedules).

    CNN Student News web site provides news for students and resources for teachers on how to use the site. Cross-curricular ideas are available for all subject areas.
  • Media Awareness Network
    The Media Awareness Network (MNet) is home to one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of media education and Internet literacy resources. MNet’s work is based on the belief that to be functionally literate in the world today-–to be able to "read" the messages that inform, entertain and sell to us daily-–young people need critical thinking skills. To that end, Mnet examines a wide range of media, including television, film, video games, newspapers, advertising and popular music. The Educators section includes teaching units and a variety of supporting materials.
