    A large number of activities for building language arts skills in grammar, phonics, and reading.
  • BBC Schools Words and Pictures
    This site contains several different modules emphasizing graphophonic cues including consonant-vowel-consonant words, consonant clusters, and long vowel sounds. Modules contain listening activities, interactive games, and writing activities.
  • Crossword Spelling
    This is a Houghton Mifflin site. The words correspond with the units, however, you wouldn't have to follow the Houghton Mifflin program exactly because it is simple enough for students to do. Teacher may want to read the clues.
  • Houghton Mifflin Spelling Match
    This site offers several choices in varying difficulty. Activites include matching beginning sound, missing letters, missing vowels, plurals, and blends.
  • Kelly's kindergarten Games
    This site has many games to make to teach and practice letter names, sounds, sight words, spelling rimes, and much more.
  • PBS Literacy Games
    A large variety of games can be accessed from this link that address foundational reading skills for kindergarten and 1st grade.
  • Silly Billy's World
    Lesson plans for 5 well-known children's read-aloud books on plants/seeds that encourage literature, writing and language skills from the common core.
  • Word Builder
    Student is given a sentence with a missing word and must choose the right letters to build that word. Everything is read to the student, including the instructions, so student can play this game by himself.
  • Word Wizard
    An interactive version of making words. Students use clues to build words.
