Standard 1
Students will acquire number sense and perform simple operations with whole numbers.
Objective 3
Model, describe, and illustrate the meanings of addition and subtraction and use these operations to solve problems.
 
  • Adding Bricks
    Count the bricks to solve the addition problem.
  • Addition Attack
    In this math space game, Addition Attack, kids must add single-and-double-digit numbers together while shooting spaceships trying to invade Earth.
  • Addition Dojo
    Practice addition facts with the turtle ninja. Students try to get as many right in a minute's time. Students will love the instant playback.
  • Addition Facts
    Great site for an introduction to addition. Teacher could show the introductory lesson or have students play the addition fact games. The site also provides games for three numeral addition and double digit addition.
  • Animated Math Glossary
    This is an animated dictionary that shows vocabulary appropriate for different grade levels. After learning some of the math vocabulary, a student could illustrate their own dictionary.
  • Busy Bees
    Use subtraction to solve story problems about bees in the hive.
  • Cannon Math
    Practice addition facts by shooting someone out of a cannon. The person must land on the correct answer.
  • Da Numba
    Student is given a number then clicks on one to two numbers that adds up to that number (might be helpful to tell students that clicking on one number is like adding it to zero).
  • Dartboard Game
    Student uses darts on a board to make a number equation. Different levels to practice addition.
  • Dr. Brain's Robot
    This educational game helps kids to learn and practice addition and subtraction skills.
  • Flash Cards
    Student can choose flash cards for addition or subtraction. When the correct answer is given the animated character does a jig.
  • High Rise Math
    Move up the levels of a high rise building by answering addition and subtraction problems correctly. This is a TWO player game.
  • Math Magician
    Practice addition facts and see how fast you can answer the problems. Student can print out an award if he/she answers all problems correctly.
  • Math Popper
    Add and subtract fast in Math Popper. This carnival math game is ideal for kids looking to perfect their addition and subtraction skills. The objective of the game is to pop the balloons with the correct answer before time runs out!
  • Pinball Math
    Student plays pinball to create a math problem. After problem is created then the student solves the problem. Student can choose addition or subtraction. NOTE: Read all instructions on site. It also might take a quite a few hits for the ball to finally reach the add/subt sign.
  • Save the Apples
    Help the monkey cross the lake with his apples by solving addition or subtraction problems. Student can choose addition or subtraction and the level of difficulty.
  • Shuttle Launch
    Help Command Central launch a space shuttle by solving addition or subtraction problems. Student can choose level of problems.
  • Subtraction Bowling
    Students solve subtraction problems then click on the bowling ball to see if their answer is right.
  • Subtraction Facts
    Great site for an introduction to subtraction. Teacher could show the introductory lesson or have students play the subtraction fact games. The site also provides games for three numeral subtraction and double digit subtraction.
  • Sum Sense
    Drag the number cards to the right spot to create an addition problem.
  • Tic Tac Toe
    Practice addition or subtraction facts while playing a fun game of tic tac toe with the computer.
  • Tumbleweed's Math Maze
    Help Tumbleweed through the maze by answering add/subtract problems correctly. Choose easy for first grade and medium for second grade (hard level contains multiplication and division for advanced students)
  • Two Minute Warning-Online Math Flashcards
    Flash card activity to encourage speed when solving math facts.
  • Two Player Addition
    Two players play against each other to solve addition problems.
