Strand: MEASUREMENT AND DATA (2.MD)

Measure and estimate lengths in standard units (Standards 2.MD.1–4) and relate addition and subtraction to length (Standards 2.MD.5–6). They work with time and money (Standards 2.MD.7–8). They represent and interpret data (Standards 2.MD.9–10).

Standard 2.MD.1

Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.

• Find Someone
This lesson is designed so that students find someone in their class who matches a description by using a shape, measurement, or number.
• Is it Possible?
This activity asks students to estimate distance, height, and length they could reach if working together.
• Measurement: What Is It?
This lesson is designed to give students an understanding of measurement and allow them to use various tools of measurement.
• Time to Move
This game asks students to move fish to a new home. They must measure the fish and then determine which tank it should go in based on its length.
