  • Expressions and Equations - Standards 7 and 8 Curriculum Guide
The Utah State Office of Education (USOE) and educators around the state of Utah developed these guides for Mathematics Grade 8 Cluster "Analyze and Solve Linear Equations and Pairs of Simultaneous Linear Equations." / Standards 7 and 8.
  • Graphing Equations on the Cartesian Plane: Slope
This lesson plan is designed to teach students about the slope of lines. They are asked to determine the slope given a graph and given 2 points on the line, and compare the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines.
  • Linear Functions
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Linear Functions video
This video compares proportional and non-proportional linear functions.
  • Linear Inequalities
This lesson contains an activity that allows students to use a coordinate plane to create linear inequalities.
  • Linear Models
This lesson helps the student understand linear models by using real-world examples of change over time in both graphic and equation form.
  • Mixture Problems
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Mixture Problems video
This video introduces and explains the concept.
  • Rate Problems
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Rate Problems video
This video introduces the explains the topic.
  • Simultaneous Linear Equations
This website offers students instruction on various methods of solving simultaneous equations and practice examples for each method.
  • Slope Slider
This website's applet lets the student manipulate a linear function in order to better understand the relationship between slope and intercept in the Cartesian coordinate system.
  • Solving Linear Equations in Two Variables
This lesson unit is intended to help educators assess how well students are able to formulate and solve problems using algebra.
  • Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Elimination
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Elimination video
This video introduces and explains the concept.
  • Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Graphing
This is a video introduction and explanation of the topic.
  • Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Substitution
This collection of resources to teach graphing equations in slope intercept form includes warm-up exercises, a video presentation explaining the topic, practice exercises, worked examples, practice problems, and a review.
  • Solving Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables
This online tutorial is designed to help students understand how to solve systems of linear equations via graphing, and the substitution and elimination methods.
  • Solving systems of Linear Equations by Substitution video
This is a video introduction and explanation of the topic.
  • Walk the Line: A Module on Linear Functions
