  • Animated Atlas: Growth of a Nation
    View an interactive movie which which illustrates the growth of the United States from the original 13 colonies in 1798 to modern day. Includes timeline that covers political, social, and scientific events in America and the world.
  • Chronology of US Historical Documents
    The University of Oklahoma hosts this outstanding collection of US Historical Documents, set in a clear chronology.
  • Documenting the American South
    Here's another great collection of primary source materials. The focus here is on first person narratives about the American south, especially in the slavery and Civil War eras.
  • EcEdWeb
    Economics Education Web, or EcEdWeb, is a superb starting point for economics education at all grade levels. There are lesson plans, links, activities, and resource documents.
  • EconEdLink
    The National Council on Economic Education has created this site, a gateway to economics education of all kinds. Lesson plans, links, and statistical data are all readily available.
  • Exhibit: The Louisiana Purchase
    This exhibit from the National Archives shows the original documents and includes Napoleon Bonaparte's signature.
  • EyeWitness
    "History through the eyes of those who lived it" including images, sounds, and writings.
  • Making of America
    The University of Michigan offers this collection of primary resources from U.S. history in the years 1850-1877. The emphasis is on social history.
  • Teaching With Documents: The Homestead Act of 1862
    Learn about The Homestead Act of 1862 from copies of the original documents.
  • Themepark: Civil War
    An excellent collection of online resources that will help you learn about the Civil War.
  • Within These Walls
    From the Smithsonian, the history of one house over 200 years. The site emphasizes how historians discover information through artifacts. Includes a teacher's guide and reading list. Flash capabilities are needed for best results.
