Ask Vickie - About Our Classes

The following are commonly asked questions about the UEN Professional Development classes.

Is there a charge for UEN classes?

NO! Some courses offer optional materials for a fee, but no materials or fees are required.

Are your classes really, totally FREE?

YES!

When does class start?

Most classes run from 8:30 to 4:00 with 30 minutes for lunch.

Where are classes held?

Most scheduled classes are held in the UEN computer classroom, room 202 of Milton Bennion Hall (MBH) at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. In some cases, usually in the Summer, we offer open registration classes at other locations in the state. These locations and addresses are always noted in the registration area. We also offer classes by request at your location. Contact the manager for more information.

What if the class is full?

Our classes do fill, especially Saturday and summer classes. Please call our administrative assistant to have your name added to a waiting list. As people drop out, we can add more. With that in mind, if you find you are unable to attend a class you registered for, PLEASE LET US KNOW! So we can offer the opportunity to someone else. Classes are repeated several times a year, so you might be able to register for the same class at a later date.

When will additional classes be posted?

We post new schedules on May 1 (for June, July and August), September 1 (for September, October and November) and December 1 (for January ñ May) of each year. Most of our classes are repeated once a month or every two months. New UEN-TV workshops run four times a year.

Can I take a class more than once?

You can take any class as often as you wish. Points are awarded for attendance, so you can receive additional points each time you take a class. Credit, however, is recorded with a number for the class, not for the date/section. Therefore, you cannot receive CREDIT twice. Some people find after the first time, they are not confident enough to complete the assignment required for credit. They may take a point certificate the first time, then repeat the class, complete the assignment, and receive credit the second time.
