ShareED PS 6446: Integration of Instructional Design & Educational Technology in the Classroom
Description:
"This University of Utah graduate course is intended to build on the students' existing expertise and
developed skills by instructing ways in which technology can be
integrated into the classroom. Thus, the primary focus of the course is
to provide practicing teachers who have access to technology the
knowledge and skills necessary to utilize those resources to design and
implement learning environments and experiences utilizing technology to
create meaningful learning experiences for students. The course
supports the National Educational Technology Standards for teacher
education programs developed by the International Society of
Technology in Education (ISTE)."
Objectives:
- Develop a theoretical foundation on technology integration issues.
- Understand research on technology utilization on classrooms and use this information to guide their present work.
- Use research to evaluate, select, and utilize various technology applications to teach students.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate class technology integration projects and web-based resources.
- Demonstrate skill with a variety of technology applications, their appropriateness for different learning environments, and ways to implement them in classrooms.
- Gain an understanding of multiple models for assessing student learning in technology enhanced environments.
Credit:
3 University of Utah graduate credits
This course is required for the Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP).
Standards:
This course aligns with NETS•T-I, II, III, IV, & V.
Note: ED PS 6151 - "Educational Applications of Technology; Grades 6 - 12" can be used as a substitute for ED PS 6446 to fulfill the requirements of the Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP) and the Educational Technology endorsement.
REGISTRATIONED PS 6446 is offered yearly during Spring semester. ED PS 6151 is offered throughout the year. You must be admitted to the University of Utah as a non-matriculated student prior to registering for these courses.
