V DESCRIPTION...
* DEFINITION...
The metadata elements clustered under KEYWORDS are an aggregation of descriptors that identify people, places, things, activities, and time/date/year associations, using established picklists and authorities for recommended words, phrases, and values where possible. KEYWORDS are intended to collect under a single "umbrella" summary field all the relevant, searchable field topics and names (similar to the way in which end users "Google" online resources).

* GUIDELINES...
The keywords published to end users are harvested from a series of individual metadata prompts that only catalogers may access. These metadata prompts are very granular in nature and are designed to help indexers articulate (and remember) all the important keywords that should be associated with a media item. The individual bits of data are then concatenated into a single "keyword summary" field, using North Plains "functional rules" capability, imposing a well-defined syntax structure.
