V DESCRIPTION...
* DEFINITION...
Outside of specific digital asset management systems, metadata schemas must usually define all the individual technical attributes of a media item, particularly for digital instantiations. However, North Plains Telescope actually collects much of this information on its own when a digital file or rendition is associated with a metadata record. This information about the file may be exposed or hidden from the end user in thumbnail and summary views for media items.
