WHAT ARE METADATA CONTENT CLASSES?

Content Classes are created as "conceptual wrappers." The wrappers logically group together thematically-related Elements (metadata fields and their attributes and properties). Content Classes exist at the top levels of a hierarchy of elements and element containers.

UMAP maintains 13 Content Classes as the conceptual wrappers for its various metadata elements:

Content Classes enhance the ability to visualize and understand the hierarchical structure of a data dictionary and its associated data models. This hierarchical structure is easily viewed by observing a Graphical Illustration of the UMAP Elements, their interdependencies within Element Containers, housed within their Content Classes.
