We recommend using the latest version of Firefox or your favorite browser. Some older browsers do not support established web standards, and may have difficulty in displaying content as intended. If you are using an older version, click any of the links below to download a free browser upgrade:

How to Make UEN your Homepage

All browsers are slightly different but most work in broadly the same way. The following instructions should work in most current browsers.

Go to the page that you want to select as your homepage.
Open the main internet tools menu in your browser - this may be called Tools, Edit, Firefox, Opera or Safari (depending on your browser and operating system).
Select the tab marked 'General', 'Preferences', 'Options' or 'Internet Options' (depending on your browser).
You may see a button marked 'Use current page' or 'Use current'. If so, click this button then click OK. The page you were visiting should be saved as your homepage and you won't need to do anything else.
If not, look for a box entitled 'Homepage', 'Homepage location' or similar, which will contain the URL (web address) of your current homepage. Type http://www.uen.org, or the address of the page that you want, into this box and click OK. Your new homepage will be set.

Visit UEN's widget page and find the UEN resource you want to link to.

Plug-Ins

Some of UEN's Internet resources use free downloads or plug-ins that extend the capabilities of a Web browser - such as providing the visitor the ability to view animation, play audio samples or view video movies.

Here are the most common plug-ins:

Flash Player The Adobe Flash Player allows visitors to experience interactive multimedia - including audio, video and animations - through a Web browser. Download the Adobe Flash Player.			Shockwave Player Adobe Shockwave permits visitors to experience quality interactive games, multimedia, graphics and streaming audio. Download Shockwave.


Java Software Some interactive Web pages require the free java software. Download Java.			Adobe Reader This free software lets visitors open, view, search and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. PDF files preserve all special formatting features, regardless of what type of computer (Windows or Mac) or Web browser you use. Download Adobe Reader.


Apple QuickTime The Apple QuickTime plug-in enables visitors to watch QuickTime videos. Download QuickTime.			Windows Media Player Some videos that are available on the Internet require the Windows Media Player. Download Windows Media Player.
