Classroom Ideas
- Task
Cards
One of the keys to effectively using the Internet in the classroom is to
direct student learning. It is too easy to get lost, overwhelmed or side
tracked.
- Thematic
Units
Organizing your curriculum around themes is a good way to integrate various
subjects. The thematic units listed here are a mixture of global, (i.e. systems)
topical, (i.e. animals) and curricular (i.e. weather.)
Online Projects
- Animal Diaries
The purpose of this project is to give students all over the world a safe
place on the web to publish stories about animals and their interaction
with other living things. In addition to highlighting student writings
and art, this project encourages collaboration.
- Global Grocery List
This project invites youngsters from all over to report prices on various
grocery store items. Students can then compare their data with that of
people in other areas, and even in other years.
- The MegaPenny Project
Visualizing huge numbers can be very difficult for young people. The MegaPenny
Project aims to help by taking one small everyday item, the U.S. penny,
and building on that to answer the question: "What would a billion
(or a trillion) pennies look like?"
