Hanukkah begins at sunset this day commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. The name Hanukkah comes from a Hebrew word meaning "to dedicate."

Chemistry Christmas
Once Upon a Christmas Cheery, In the Lab of Shakhashiri 2012: The sights and sounds of science come alive in this 42nd Annual Christmas Lecture by renowned science communicator, Bassam Z. Shakhashiri, Chemistry Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prof. Shakhashiri and special guests, including Bucky Badger and Santa Claus, display fascinating phenomena, fire and smoke, color-changing liquids, and lots of booms and bangs. The 42nd element, molybdenum, is also featured, and some of its many mysteries are revealed. Dazzling demonstrations will entertain and edify as you watch science in action. Saturday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m.

The Piano Guys
Utah's own YouTube sensation has made it to TV! Watch The Piano Guys: Live at Red Butte Garden Dec 6 at 8:30 pm. This musical treat is produced by KUED in partnership with KBYU. The Piano Guys got their start in St. George Utah and they're hitting the big time. The program will air nationally on PBS in Spring - but Utah get's a preview on December 6. Don't miss it!
