Dixie State College, Elementary Education Program

Dixie State College offers a B.S. in Elementary Education.  The program has prerequisite classes which must be fulfilled by the end of the semester in which candidates apply.  Admission occurs once a year in the Spring semester (i.e., January) for the following Fall semester.  Once students are accepted they form a cohort of approximately 30 candidates who work together over the course of two years.  The program is field-based, meaning numerous practica and school experiences are a component part of the coursework towards completion of the degree. Graduates receive a Level 1 U.S.O.E. Elementary License (1-8) as well as a State ESL endorsement giving them expertise in meeting the needs of children who may speak other than English as their mother tongue.
