UEN operates, maintains and expands a reliable and secure high-speed network to connect Utah’s public schools, colleges, universities and libraries.

Service Description
Collaboration With Public & Private Entities UEN works with Utah’s telecommunication providers on mutually beneficial projects and advocacy efforts.
High-Speed Connectivity for Qualified End Sites UEN provides high-speed broadband connectivity to qualified public education end sites (currently grades 7-12 and district offices).
Internet Connectivity The UEN statewide backbone connects public education, higher education and libraries to the commodity Internet.
Internet Content Filtering for K-12 UEN provides resources for filtering services to K-12 schools to conform to state and federal requirements.
Network Capacity Planning UEN evaluates and monitors network utilization and plans upgrades based on trend data.
Network Design & Engineering UEN provides stakeholders comprehensive design and engineering to meet networking needs and standards.
Network Device Management & Inventory Our team tracks and manages all UEN-owned network devices located at hub sites and qualified end sites.
Network Future Design We anticipate the elements needed to maintain the network’s speed and reliability into the future.
Security Incident Handling / Response UEN Network Security manages the network end-to-end, monitors the network continuously and responds rapidly in the event of security attacks and incidents.
Security Monitoring & Troubleshooting We provide monitoring and alerting of network-related security issues. This includes notification of compromised machines when they are detected by these monitoring systems. Note: UEN cannot provide comprehensive security monitoring for connected stakeholders.
Security Training UEN works with UtahSAINT to provide a wide range of security training. Information is available through UtahSAINT's communication forums.
Technical Services Support Center (TSSC) With our TSSC, stakeholders have a single point of contact for any IVC and network support they may need, from scheduling events to troubleshooting.
UEN Point-of-Presence (PoP) UEN's backbone interconnects every UEN PoP in major locations throughout the state, providing a robust and redundant network backbone design.
Utah Security Advisory and Incident Network Team (SAINT) Coordination As a member of UtahSAINT, a non-profit consortium of public and higher education professionals, UEN supports an annual network security conference and facilitates ongoing dialogue and training on network security issues.
