Art

If you are into art--its history, its making, or just the enjoyment of it--this site will lead you to places where you can learn more! It is always a good idea to have a pencil and paper handy to take down any notes about what you find or just to jot down a URL (that's a site's address) so you can visit it again.

WebMuseum: Bienvenue!

The WebMuseum welcomes guests from all over the world. While here, take a tour of Paris, visit the "Special Exhibitions" to see who the Featured Artist is right now, or explore its ART HISTORY links to learn a great deal about all periods of Art History--with links to specific artists and their works!

Also, check out the "Famous Paintings" collections in the General Exhibitions area.

A. Pintura, Art Detective

Ready for something really different? How about an old fashioned detective story?! See how our hero solves the mystery by using ART HISTORY!

(Teachers, there is a worksheet & answer sheet you can print out to help your students get the most out of this adventure.)

Art History with Michelli

Want something on the lighter side? This is a fun location for lessons in creating art, studying art, and even playing art games! Follow the links to learn a lot and still have fun.

Look for the lesson on contour drawing. It is especially good!

Watercolor Online

Ready to start some painting? This is a terrific site with links to articles and ART LESSONS by professional artists. They share many of their secrets and some show step-by-step examples of how they do their work. Carole Katchen's "How to Create Light with Layers" and Ken Hosmer's "How to Paint 'Backward'" are especially good and worth trying on your own.

Art School Online

Wow! Go to ART SCHOOL for free! Here is a professional artist who offers lessons on the Web. He picks one aspect of art and presents several lessons on it, then changes the subject from time to time. The subject at the time of this writing is Color. Lesson 4 is really interesting for ART HISTORY students.

He is featuring a terrific lesson on how to draw ships!

(Teachers, he has posted an excellent lesson on measuring the human form. You may want to check this one out before having your students go there.)

Arteducation.co.uk

Ever wonder what art teachers and students are doing in other parts of the world? Now you can find out.

Here is a site created by British art teachers with lesson plans and activities. Most are for Elementary Level, but the advanced lesson is good for both Junior High and High School students.

This is worth looking at just for the interesting spellings of common words; such as, "colour".
