  • Veterans History Project
    Motivated by the urgent need to collect the stories and experiences of war veterans while they are still among us, the U.S. Congress created the Veterans History Project in October 2000. The legislation calls upon the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to collect and preserve audio- and video-taped oral histories, along with documents such as letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and home movies, of America's war veterans and those who served in support of them during World War I, World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf wars.
  • The Price of Freedom: Americans at War
    Americans have gone to war to win their independence, define their freedoms, and defend their interests around the globe. This Smithsonian online exhibition examines how wars have shaped the nation's history and transformed American Society.

  • Veterans Day Resources from Thinkfinity

  • Echoes of War: Stories from the BIG RED ONE
    This web site and the corresponding television episodes focus on the First Infantry Division - the "Big Red One." You will find five webisodes in the video gallery, sample artifacts from the First Division Museum, biographical sketches of the participating veterans, useful internet links, and interactive activities useful in classroom settings.

  • Rutgers Oral History Archives of World War II
    Records the personal experiences of men and women who served on the homefront and overseas; based on in-depth interviews of individuals who lived through World War II, beginning with an initial target group of Rutgers College alumni and Douglass College alumnae.

  • The Voices of WWII for Use in the Classroom
    Includes numerous pages of teacher and student resources, lesson plans and ideas, over 130 interview transcripts, a step by step "How to do Oral History" section, as well as a wealth of information on grants, scholarships, contests, and links to veterans organizations, maps and geographical resources, research sites, photographs and documents, translations, graves registration and oral history sites.

  • American Ex-Prisoners of War
    Contains over 200 biographies of America's Ex-Prisoners of War from World War II thru the Persian Gulf War. You will find personal stories and remembrances of ex-POWs or their families.

  • National World War II Museum (New Orleans)
    Check out the online exhibit and educational resources at America's National World War II Museum.

  • National World War II Memorial
    You will find facts, photos and information about the Memorial dedication.

  • VI Corps Combat Engineers World War II
    This site features information regarding the 36th (2826th, 2827th & 2828th), 39th, 540th (2832nd & 2833rd) and the 1108th (48th & 235th) Combat Engineer Regiments, who bravely fought against the Axis powers from North Africa into Sicily, Italy, France, Central Europe and ended their tour of duty in Germany in 1945.

  • Veterans' Oral History
    Minnesota State University Moorhead is conducting  oral history interviews of area veterans.  You can listen to audio recordings of veterans sharing their experiences during the various wars:  World War II, Korean Conflict, Viet Nam Era and Gulf War Era.

  • Living History Project
    A collection of histories gathered from people who live during the time of The Great Depression and World War II. The histories were gathered by fifth and sixth grade students at Parowan Elementary in an effort to make the events of that time come to life for the students of today.
