This lesson explores how GIS tools are used for neighborhood level analysis in real estate. Students will use "live" information to build layers using digital ortho photos, vegetation, zoning, census and assessing parcel data. In addition, the exercise illustrates the use of buffers to estimate residential property values.
Instructional procedures and related information are found in the documents Statistics: Using Excel with Assessing Data and Using Census and Assessing Data for Neighborhood GIS Analysis attached. Both documents are heavy with graphics and step-by-step screenshots.
