Supporting Your Child

Suicide Prevention

Suicide is the leading cause of death in Utah for kids 10-17.  It’s a difficult conversation to have with kids.  Here are some tools you can use as well as see what is being done in the schools to help children deal with the difficult topic.

Bullying is commonly defined as aggressive behavior which intends to cause stress or harm, displays an imbalance of power, and is repeated over time.  The following pages give information about how to stop bullying.

Internet Safety

Digital Citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use.  The world is such that many of us carry the Internet with us everywhere we go, whether that be in the form of a phone, tablet, laptop or other device.  In the same way that we teach our children First Aid, Fire Safety, Stranger Danger, etc. we need to teach children how to protect.

Equity and Advocacy

Educational Equity is a federally mandated monitoring office for the K-12 public school system at the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) which monitors civil rights compliance in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) regulations.
