Standard 1

Evaluate personal readiness for parenting roles and responsibilities.

    Helps students realize some of the costs and rewards of parenting. Part of the Parenting Readiness Unit.

  • Reasons for choosing to be a parent.
  • Experiencing pregnancy and parental roles.
  • Theories of child socialization and discipline.
  • Evaluation of personal readiness for parenting roles and responsibilities.
  • Weighing costs and benefits of becoming a parent.
  • How job demands and financial readiness affect personal readiness.
  • Children have an impact on the marital relationship.
  • Identify parenting roles of fathers and mothers.
  • Emphasize the differences between and the importance of motherhood and fatherhood.
  • Parent Readiness
    Students will evaluate their personal readiness for parenting and identify the social, moral, emotional, physical, intellectual and financial considerations of parenting.
  • Parenting Readiness
    Helps students realize Personal Readiness to become a parent. Part of the Parenting Readiness Unit.
