Science - 5th Grade
Students will understand features of static and current electricity.
Analyze the behavior of current electricity.
Students will create an emergency flashlight using common everyday items.
Students will organize electricity-related vocabulary words into a web or cluster design.
Create a Pathway
Students build and experiment with electric circuits using easily available materials.
After "acting out" different types of circuits, students will create their own circuits using wire, a bulb, a battery and a switch.
TRB 5:4 - Activity 3: Lights On!
Through hands-on experiments and class discussions, students will create definitions for a complete circuit and an incomplete circuit.
TRB 5:4 - Activity 4: Wiring a Circuit
Students will create a circuit and then predict the effect adding or of changing one or more of the components.
TRB 5:4 - Activity 5: Conductors vs. Insulators
Through hands-on activities students will first predict which objects will conduct electricity and then they will test their predictions.
